Week 2

INSTRUCTIONS

Redesign an infographic
I picked this design. It looks too simple. The content looks like the default table.
I picked a colour scheme to increase the cohesive and harmony. I used the repetition design principle.
My personal rating of Canva is five out of five. It is easy to navigate. Useful with the array of editing tools. Provides plenty of templates and elements.

Exercise 1 - Quantify & Visualize Data
I arranged some sequins into a circular arrangement. I have grouped them into categories like shape and colour.

Exercise 2

I designed a Pokemon infographic using the L.A.T.C.H principle.
Place: Kanto
Alphabet
Charmander -> Charmeleon -> Charizard
Bulbasaur -> Ivysaur -> Venusaur
Squirtle -> Wartortle -> Blastoise
Time: Pokémon Red and Blue (1996)
Category: 1st gen starter Pokemon,  Elements
Hierarchy: Evolution

Fig 1.1: Sketch

I added the graphics such as the pokemon, logo, elements etc.
Fig 1.2: graphics

Then I added the arrows to show the evolution and elemental reaction.

First Draft

I arranged the box to have more negative space. I changed the font colour and the font type. I added a small circle to show the elemental reaction.

FEEDBACK

Week 1
General Feedback: There are many types of infographic. Choosing the type of infographic depends on the information you're visualising and the infographic's intended purpose.
Specific Feedback: Creating multiple sketches helps visualising the final outcome.

Week 2
General Feedback: Try to be more creative by experimenting with different layouts.
Specific Feedback: Test out different fonts to make the text look more interesting.

REFLECTION

Experience: This was my first time creating infographics. It consist of putting graphic elements and text on to a background.

ObservationsI can experiment more with the layout to create a more engaging infographic.

Findings: I learned that negative space is important in infographics. Trying out different fonts can make text appear more interesting.
