Progress Checker: (more elaborated on the progress)

Task 1: Propose an innovative project proposal as a group
We worked on competitors, user personas, survey and interviews, initial logo design and colour scheme. This reminds me of the perks that come with being in a group. Everyone has a different outlook on the project and we get to combine all of the good ideas together to create one final product.  Unfortunately when the presentation changed the date I had class at that time. I thank my group members for taking up my role during the presentation. My group mates are really cooperative and understanding of my situation.

We also had a visit to the company itself. We got a live demonstration of my group leader trying their headset and VR meditation. The visuals were stunning and everything is so smooth. We also had a Q&A session and got to understand more from the staff themselves. It was fun seeing VR being interacted with especially when incorporated with something like stress relieving.

Progress
Week 2: Contextual Research
We began our research on competitor and target audience. We ended up choosing corporate employees from the three target audience, university/college students, corporate employees and traveler.

Week 3: EDT Briefing & Persona
The EDT briefing was informative and I have a better understanding about the service they provide. They have a Q&A session which is very helpful and clears up any unresolved questions we have after the briefing. We discussed what our user persona would be like. It was very fun because everyone was participating in the discussion or our persona creation. In the end we decided to have a young adult male that is struggling with his new work life, a young adult female that is trend forward and an older man that is family and work oriented.

Week 4: Persona Research
Then I was tasked to backup points of the user persona by citing relevant websites that support our persona description. I did research on Hafiz Rahman and Daniel Lim together with Sung J Xin. I used highlights then sticky notes because only 1 person can edit the text box so the parts done by me are mixed into other people's work which is confusing.

Week 5: EDT Visit & Survey + Interview Questions
The visit to EDT was fun, it’s nice to see the demo of the Wayang Mind meditation VR. The staff were also really patient with answering our questions. Since the available tasks such as interview and questionnaire are taken, I will take on something more heavy in the following weeks.

Week 6: Survey Analysis
I shared the form on my social media to collect responses. I was in charge of the analysis of the whole survey. There are 17 questions in total. The responses are split into categories such as demographic, general information, personal stress experience and wellness tools. I have a summary of each individual response and another separate summary analyzing each of the 4 categories.

Week 7: Survey Analysis 2.0
There are various ways to analyse the data, including empathy map, user stories, user journey map and customer journey map. I was assigned to create the customer journey map. I am also tasked with refining the user persona Alicia based on the data of the interview gathered. The customer journey map I made sure to give plenty of suggestions that I find align with the direction the brand is going for.

Week 9 & 10: Key Visuals
This reminds me of the perks that come with being in a group. My initial idea was futuristic, abstract shapes with gradients, futuristic grids. But I agree with Leia's idea of keeping it minimalistic because this is a mental wellness app, so a design that reflects a calming mood would fit the product or service we are going for. Jia Wei proposes that we go for a gradient look like the ones Wayang Mind had in their Instagram post.

Jia Wei came up with the logo design with a star at the end of the w. Initially she went with the light pink and blue colour scheme. But I proposed I’m worried it might be too similar to gemini blue and pink brand colours. In the end we decided on a bright yellow, green and blue. I also suggested putting the star in the middle of 4 white circles, symbolising a flower while keeping the star present in the motifs. I also found a calligraphy-like font named Kenao and it is approved by our group members to use as are title font.

Week 11: Presentation
Unfortunately when the presentation changed the date I had class at that time. I thank my group members for taking up my role during the presentation. My group mates are really cooperative and understanding of my situation.

Task 2: Devise and produce design management protocols relevant with industry practice

I was tasked with creating an app in Figma. Initially I did it on Illustrator so I had to transfer the files to Figma. My group leader Jia Wei list out all the functions she wants in the Wayang Mind app and I design based on what she listed. She has a good vision so whenever I am confused she’ll guide me and consider other factors that I didn’t think of. She made some changes after I created the design to improve on it.

Since I was in charge of the app, and my group leader made some changes to it, I offered to help with her part, more specifically the mockup of the brochure design. She designed a cut out of the floral shape which resembles the motif we planned. So I added some shadows in the cutout to really showcase how the product would look like.

Task 3: Produce the final presentation of the proposed solution to a panel of reviewers
It is really satisfying to see everyone's work together. We are better able to create a full completed design plan as a group. I want to thank everyone involved for working together and guiding the group to the right direction. It's fun creating a design for a real company while working alongside the company getting guidance and feedback from them. I learned a lot from this project.

FEEDBACK

General Feedback: Should keep in mind that Wayang Mind might be seen negatively by higher ups because a VR meditation might be perceived as weak minded or lazy. This makes it difficult to employees to move up and take on a higher role. So how can we turn that narrative into de-stressing and mental wellness, something positive to the work experience.

REFLECTION

I learned a lot from minor project because I get to have hands on experience with real companies and real implementations on the world. My group members are really cooperative and they make discussions while brainstorming fun. My group leader is able to give good feedback and guidance when I work on anything and she sees things that I never considered before so I learn a lot from her. I thank Dr Mike for being patient with us and answering any of our questions making us more clear about the topic at hand. Finally, Mr Fariz for giving us an opportunity to design for their company while organizing and taking the time to let us experience VR.
