WEEK 10: INTRO TO AFTER EFFECTS

After Effects

-An animation software used for motion picture compositing
-The manipulation of imagery gives way to combining layers of video and images together
-Organising layers and synchronising the elements to an external software is essential, as After Effects links it instead of embedding. 

1. Select > Modify > Expand

2. Edit > Fill > Content Aware
3. Spot Healing Brush
4. Apply Layer Mask > Convert to Smart Objects

INSTRUCTIONS

First I used masking techniques to remove the background from images that I wanted to use, such as the face, objects and vector illustrations. 

Then I made 2 key frames of the animation, one the illustration one, another the realistic one. So it looks like reality glitching. Then added animations in photoshop. I also downloaded and imported the audio.

REFLECTION

Experience:

I learned how to make animations through images using Photoshop and After Effect. I also learned how to create the sense of parallax to make it seem like the object is growing or shrinking. It was very satisfying to see still object come to life with animation. 

Observations: 

The main thing holding me back was my inexperience with the software. There will be a learning curve when you make a project using a new software, as you have to learn the functions of it before you get to start. I will spend more time to familiarise myself with the design softwares so when I do a project I don't need to worry about the learning curve taking up time.

Findings: 

I learned that making a mood board is important as one you get to see how experienced people executed the project and get to learn the ways they achieved a look. Two you get to use those existing ideas to create something new, as you have seen what people done you would prevent going about things the same way.
