LECTURES

Using the knowledge of font building by using shapes in adobe illustrator, I continued that in this project. All the text are constructed by the rectangle and star tool.

INSTRUCTIONS

WEEK 11

I chose Happy New Year because it has universal appeal, it doesn't matter what country or celebrations one has. I want to make it really sparkly and extra. Lots of action to really channel the feeling of new years. The contrast of two text type really emphasises the "NEW". The stars on the word "NEW" also pushes the word more.

WEEK 12

Digitisation process on Adobe Illustrator. I want it to look more like a firework, so I made some changes from the original sketch. I added stars on the word "NEW", so it looks more customised and in theme. Colour wise I want it to still stick to the red and black, to avoid it looking too harsh and contrast, added some lighter shades of pinks.

WEEK 13

Added some light and shadow on the text. I also made the stars inward point more curved, so it's slightly more detailed.

WEEK 13

Specific Feedback: Overall it's quite developed. The text can add some highlights and shadow. The stars can use something more special.

REFLECTION

Experience: 

I learned that the stuff we used regularly like stickers in messages are also an art form and can express our creativity. From the live lectures, I got to see first hand the process behind making art works. The reflection session gives us another perspective on the impact of our works, provides valuable insight. 

Observations: 

I have gotten better at being fine with trial and error, trusting the process. I can spend more time on the project to really develop my idea, idea developing was slightly better than say my first assignment. I will keep working hard to improve the making process. 

Findings: 
I got a glimpse at how adobe illustrator can create vector art as well as text. Now when I see an artwork I can kind of tell how it was made. I also gained a greater appreciation for vector art in general. When I see a very profession and clean piece of work, I appreciate the quality and skill that went into the work.
